Paul Newman: beyond life & death…
I think Paul Newman was one of the greatest individuals to ever exist on this Earth. He did a lot on & off camera which truly, wasn’t as highlighted as it could have been. Throughout the years, as Hollywood became more mediocre and actors began spieling for pennies & pundits, you could always listen to a voice like Newman’s and know that everything forms full-circle in entertainment.
I feel this because he wasn’t very Hollywood at all; and it isn’t just because of that that he has my eternal admiring but rather, it is my sincere hope that I can one day fit the mold of his pinnacle.
My ultimate goal would be to exist beyond it but, every goal ever accomplished had a starting-point before it blew up in someone’s face.
He is someone great to follow in the footsteps of for overcoming your small-feats. Many actors in today’s society are simply people with glorified hobbies.
Many people are actually (if you think about it), in the same boat with life. I’ll now leave you with some quotes (paraphrased more or less) by Mr. Paul Newman:
“Every time I get a script, it’s a matter of trying to know what I could do with it. I see colors, imagery. It has to have a smell. It’s like falling in love. You can’t give a reason why.”
“The embarrassing thing is that the salad dressing is out-grossing my films.”
“If you don’t have enemies, you don’t have character.”
“Acting isn’t really a creative profession. It’s an interpretative one.”
“If you’re playing a poker game and you look around the table, and can’t tell who the sucker is, it’s you.”
“Who’s to say who’s an expert?”
“Costa Rica is a marvelous place to enter the atmosphere.”
